Dog Works Radio is your home for canine sports, working dogs and training advice!

Jun 4, 2023

Well… summer is supposed to be in full swing. I don’t know about where you live but up here in Alaska it is still cold and rainy almost every day. That doesn’t stop us hardy dog owners. We still get out and do group classes in the park on Saturdays and many of us are hitting the hiking trails with the bear spray firmly in hand. Those buggers are awake and roaming around.

On today’s show we are going to talk about dog hiking groups and should you consider one. In fact, we have one here and it is a part of our Adventure Dog Club. You can head over to our website, Alaska dog works (dot) com, and check it out. On this episode, we give you tips on what to look for when researching dog hiking clubs in your area, what questions to ask, what to avoid, and how to prepare your dog for the hikes.

Dog training experts and best-selling authors Robert and Michele Forto (A Musher's Dream) take the listener into the scruffy, curious, and sometimes heroic world of dogs.

What does it mean to "own" a dog? Can dogs teach us compassion? How do dogs learn? What are your breed's origins and what were they bred to do?

Dog Works Radio is an award-winning podcast that is a delightful and surprising look at the relationship we have with our K9 buddies.

Michele Forto is the lead trainer of Alaska Dog Works, a podcaster and business coach who helps entrepreneurs all over the country create sustainable business success. Whether it is through her podcast, her dog training business or one of her trainings, you will quickly realize that you can be the best dog owner possible.
